Alison Moore m.A., LPC/MHSP

I bring a decade of experience to counseling with specializations in Autism, Neurodivergence, trauma, anxiety, and chronic illness. I specialize in working with intelligent, sensitive autistic and neurodivergent teens and adults who often feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or “too much” for the world around them.

I have training in complex trauma, EMDR, and IFS-Informed approaches to support deeper emotional processing and long term change. I am neurodivergent myself with close Autistic family members, which gives me both lived and clinical insight into the neurodivergent experience across varying support needs.

I take a thoughtful and individualized approach with each client. I hold unconditional positive regard for each client in order to create a safe environment for clients to explore and learn. I believe that each person has a wonderful innate goodness and has the ability to transform, find happiness, and live authentically.

I happily accept clients of all different races, backgrounds, religions, genders, sexual orientations, and cultures. I enjoy learning from each new client and believe all people are of value and importance. Each client brings unique life experiences, special lessons, and strengths to therapy.

My perspective on neurodivergence:

I believe finding the right therapist matters, and so I want to share a bit about how I view and work with neurodivergence.

I view neurodivergence, including Autism and ADHD, as natural variations in being human. Just as people vary in personality, strengths, and physical traits, there is also variation in how our nervous systems are wired. These differences can come with both strengths and challenges.

I do not view Autistic or ADHD individuals as broken or in need of fixing. At the same time, I recognize that many people experience neurodivergence as a disability — often because the world is structured around neurotypical expectations.

At school and work, people are often expected to sit still, follow certain social norms, and communicate in specific ways. Not everyone is able to function comfortably within those expectations. We can’t all sit still. We can’t all communicate verbally or within neurotypical social norms. We can’t all focus for an hour. We can’t all stay regulated in a loud room.

My role is not to “treat” autism or make you behave like a neurotypical person. My goal is to help you better understand your nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and navigate this world — while staying true to who you are.

Personal Life:

I’m a transplant from Texas, and I moved to Nashville in 2018. In my daily life I enjoy making artwork, creating new recipes, and hiking. I love trying out french fries at new restaurants and going to the movies with my partner. I’m also a very big fan of cats, particularly mine. My career path has been deeply influenced by my personal experience with Autism. I am passionate about serving the Autism community and do so in both my personal and professional life.
